Psalms 27

Open Word Bible

Of David. The LORD is my light and the one who saves me; who is there for me to fear? The LORD is the fortress that guards my life; who could make me tremble? When evil people closed in on me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies, they themselves tripped and went down. If an army sets up camp against me, my heart will not be afraid; if war rises up against me, I will still hold on to my trust. I have asked the LORD for one thing, and it is what I am looking for: to live in the house of the LORD as long as I live, to look on the loveliness of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. When the day of trouble comes, he will tuck me away in his shelter, keep me hidden deep inside his tent, and put me up on a rock out of reach. So now I will hold my head high over the enemies who surround me; in his tent I will offer sacrifices with joyful shouting, and I will sing and play music for the LORD. LORD, listen as I cry out to you; show me grace and answer me. My heart says to you what you have said: “Seek my face.” So I will seek your face, LORD. Do not turn your face away from me or send your servant off in anger. You have always been my help; do not let go of me or leave me, God who saves me. If my father and my mother were to leave me, the LORD would still gather me in. LORD, teach me your way; guide me along a smooth path, for there are enemies watching me. Do not hand me over to what my enemies want, for lying witnesses have stood up against me, people who breathe out violence. Had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD while still among the living, where would I be? Keep waiting for the LORD. Stand firm and be brave in heart. Yes, wait for the LORD.
