Psalms 118
Open Word Bible
Give the LORD thanks, for he is good; his loyal love lasts forever. Let Israel say it now: “His loyal love lasts forever.” Let the house of Aaron say it now: “His loyal love lasts forever.” Let those who fear the LORD say it now: “His loyal love lasts forever.” When I was hemmed in I called to the LORD; the LORD answered me by bringing me out into open space. With the LORD for me, I have no fear. What can any human being do to me? The LORD is with me as my helper, and I will see the downfall of those who hate me. It is better to make the LORD your refuge than to rely on human beings. It is better to make the LORD your refuge than to rely on princes. All the nations closed in around me; in the name of the LORD I drove them back. They closed in around me, yes, they closed in on every side; in the name of the LORD I drove them back. They came at me like a swarm of bees, but they burned out like a fire in thornbushes; in the name of the LORD I drove them back. You shoved me hard to make me fall, but the LORD came to my help. The LORD is my strength and the theme of my song; he has come to my rescue. The tents of the righteous ring with glad shouts of rescue: “The right hand of the LORD acts with power! The right hand of the LORD is raised in triumph; the right hand of the LORD acts with power!” I am not going to die; I will live and tell what the LORD has done. The LORD disciplined me hard, yet he did not let death take me. Open the gates of righteousness for me, so I may go in and thank the LORD. This is the LORD’s gate; those who are righteous may pass through it. I thank you that you answered me and became my salvation. The stone the builders cast aside is now the stone at the head of the corner. This has come from the LORD; we look on it with wonder. This is the day on which the LORD has acted; let us celebrate and be glad because of it. LORD, we beg you, save us! LORD, we beg you, give us success! Blessings on the one who comes in the LORD’s name! Out of the LORD’s house we speak a blessing over you. The LORD is God; he has given us light. Tie the festival offering with ropes and bring it right to the altar’s horns. You are my God, so I will thank you; I will exalt you, my God. Give the LORD thanks, for he is good; his loyal love lasts forever.
