Psalms 66
Open Word Bible
For the music director. A song. A psalm. Raise a shout to God, all the earth! Make music to the honor of his name; give him praise that is full of glory! Say to God, “How fearsome are your deeds! Because your strength is so great, your enemies cower and fawn before you. The whole earth bows low to you and sings to you; they make music to your name.” Selah Come and look at the works of God, how fearsome his dealings are with humankind! He changed the sea into dry ground; they crossed the river on foot. There let us rejoice in him! He reigns in his power forever, and his eyes watch closely over the nations. Let no rebels raise themselves up. Selah Peoples of the world, bless our God, and make the sound of his praise ring out, the one who keeps us alive and has not let our feet stumble. For you have put us to the test, God; you have refined us the way silver is refined. You led us into the trap; you laid a heavy weight on our backs. You let mere mortals ride roughshod over our heads; we came through fire and water, but you led us out into overflowing plenty. I will enter your house with whole burnt offerings and keep my vows to you, the promises that burst from my lips, that my mouth made in my time of distress. I will offer you burnt offerings of fattened animals, along with the smoke of rams rising to you; I will sacrifice bulls together with goats. Selah Come, listen, all who revere God; let me recount the things he has done for me. With my own mouth I called to him, and praise to lift him high was ready under my tongue. The Lord would not have heard me if I had kept wrongdoing in my heart. Yet God has indeed heard me; he has paid close attention as I prayed. Blessed be God, who has not pushed my prayer aside or taken his loyal love away from me!
