Psalms 64

Open Word Bible

God, listen to me as I pour out my complaint; keep me safe from the enemy I dread. Shelter me from the wicked when they plot together in secret, from the restless crowd of those who do evil, who grind their tongues sharp as a sword and fit bitter words to the bow like arrows, to fire from hiding at the blameless; all at once they let fly, without any fear. They make each other bold in their evil scheme and talk of setting traps where none can see; they say, “Who will notice them?” They search out crimes and say, “We have a flawless scheme, thoroughly thought out!” How deep are the thoughts and the heart of a human being! But God lets fly an arrow at them; in an instant they are wounded. Their own words trip them and bring them down; everyone who sees them shakes their head. Then everyone is struck with awe; they announce what God has done and think deeply about his deeds. May the righteous be glad in the LORD and make him their refuge; may all whose hearts are true give praise.
