Psalms 34

Open Word Bible

I will bless the LORD in every season; praise of him will never leave my mouth. I will make my boast in the LORD; let the humble hear it and rejoice. Join me in telling how great the LORD is; let us lift high his name together. I went looking for the LORD; he gave me an answer and rescued me from everything I dreaded. Those who look to him glow with joy, and no shame will darken their faces. Here was a poor man who cried out; the LORD heard and rescued him from every one of his troubles. The angel of the LORD pitches camp all around the people who fear him, and sets them free. Taste and see how good the LORD is! How blessed is the person who makes him their refuge! Fear the LORD, all you his people set apart; nothing is missing for those who fear him. Even young lions can go short and feel hunger, but those who seek the LORD will never be without anything good. Come here, children, and hear what I say; I will teach you what it means to fear the LORD. Which of you wants life and longs for many days to enjoy good things? Hold your tongue back from evil, and keep your lips from saying anything false. Turn away from evil and do what is good; look for peace and go after it. The LORD keeps his eyes on the righteous and his ears open to their call for help. The LORD turns his face against people who do evil, to erase every trace of them from the earth. When the righteous cry out, the LORD listens and frees them from every trouble they face. The LORD stays close to those whose hearts are broken, and rescues those whose spirits are crushed. A righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD brings them safely through every one. He watches over their whole body; not a single bone will be broken. The wicked will be killed by their own evil; whoever hates the righteous will bear the guilt. The LORD ransoms the lives of his servants; none who make him their refuge will bear guilt.
