Psalms 2
Open Word Bible
Why are the nations in an uproar, and the peoples muttering empty schemes? The kings of the earth take up their positions, and the rulers plot together against the LORD and against his anointed king. “Let us snap their chains,” they say, “and fling their ropes off us.” The one seated on the throne in the heavens laughs; the Lord ridicules them. Then he speaks to them in anger and fills them with terror in his blazing rage. “I am the one who has set my king in place on Zion, my holy mountain.” I will announce the decree. The LORD said to me, “You are my son. This is the day I have become your father. Ask me, and I will give you the nations to inherit, and the farthest places of the earth to hold as your own. You will crush them with an iron scepter and smash them to pieces like a clay pot.” So then, you kings, show good sense! Accept correction, you who rule the earth. Serve the LORD with awe, and let your joy be mixed with trembling. Kiss the son, or he will be angry and you will come to ruin on your path, for his anger can blaze up in an instant. How blessed are all who make him their refuge!
