Psalms 91

Open Word Bible

Whoever makes a home under the cover of the Most High will spend the night in the shade of the Almighty. This is what I say about the LORD: “He is my shelter and my stronghold, my God, the one I rely on.” It is he who will rescue you from the bird-catcher’s trap and from the plague that destroys. He will spread his feathers over you, and beneath his wings you will find shelter. His faithfulness surrounds you like a shield and a wall. You need not be afraid of the terrors that come at night or the arrow that speeds by in daylight, or the disease that prowls in the dark, or the destruction that ravages at noon. A thousand may drop beside you, ten thousand close by your right hand, yet it will not reach you. You will only watch with your own eyes and see the wicked paid back. For you, LORD, are my refuge! You have made the Most High your home. No evil will strike you; no plague will get close to your home. For he will give his angels orders about you, to protect you wherever you go. They will carry you in their hands, and you will not hurt your foot on a stone. You will walk over lions and cobras; you will crush young lions and serpents under your feet. “Those who cling to me with love I will rescue; I will lift them high out of reach, because they know my name. They will cry out to me, and I will answer; in their distress I will stand by them; I will free them and bring them honor. I will give them their fill of long life and show them my saving help.”
