Psalms 80
Open Word Bible
Turn your ear to us, Shepherd of Israel, guiding Joseph like a flock! Throned above the cherubim, blaze out in splendor! Before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh, rouse your strength and come to rescue us! God, bring us back! Turn the light of your face on us, and we will be saved. LORD God of Armies, how long will you seethe with anger even while your people pray? You have made tears their food, and given them full measures of tears to drink. You make us something our neighbors fight over, and our enemies sneer at us among themselves. God of Armies, bring us back! Turn the light of your face on us, and we will be saved. You lifted a vine out of Egypt; you expelled nations to plant it. You prepared the soil to receive it; it put down its roots and covered the land. Its shadow spread over the mountains, and its branches over the giant cedars. It stretched its branches as far as the sea, and its shoots to the River. Why did you break down the walls around it? Now everyone who walks along the road picks its grapes. Wild boars from the forest tear it up, and the creatures of the open country feed on it. God of Armies, please come back! Gaze down from heaven and see; care for this vine, the root your right hand planted, the son you raised to strength for yourself. It has been burned with fire and cut down; your people are dying under your angry rebuke. Let your hand protect the man at your right hand, the son of man you raised to strength for yourself. Then we will not drift away from you. Bring us back to life, and we will call on you by name. LORD God of Armies, bring us back! Turn the light of your face on us, and we will be saved.
