Psalms 135

Open Word Bible

Praise the LORD! Praise the name of the LORD; give him praise, you servants of the LORD, who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courtyards of the house of our God. Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; make music to his name, for that is a delight. For the LORD chose Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his special treasure. I am sure of it: the LORD is great, and our Lord stands above all gods. Whatever the LORD chooses to do, he does it, in the heavens, on the earth, in the seas and in all the ocean depths. He raises the clouds from the far edges of the earth; he makes lightning flash with the rain and brings the wind out of his storehouses. He struck down the firstborn of Egypt, of people and of animals alike. Into your very heart, Egypt, he sent signs and wonders, against Pharaoh and all his officials. He struck down many nations and killed powerful kings, Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan, and he gave their land away as a heritage, a heritage for his people Israel. LORD, your name will last forever; LORD, people will remember you in every generation. For the LORD will take up the cause of his people and show pity to his servants. The idols of the nations are made of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have a mouth, yet say nothing; they have eyes, yet see nothing. They have ears, yet hear nothing; there is not even breath in their mouths. The people who make them will end up like them, and so will everyone who relies on them. People of Israel, bless the LORD! Family of Aaron, bless the LORD! Family of Levi, bless the LORD! All who fear the LORD, bless the LORD! May the LORD be blessed from Zion, he who lives in Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
