Psalms 116

Open Word Bible

I love the LORD, for he listens when I call to him and plead for mercy. Because he has turned his ear toward me, I will call to him all my days. The ropes of death were wound around me, and the anguish of Sheol had caught me; I met with distress and grief. So I cried out to the LORD by name: Please, LORD, save my life! The LORD shows grace and does what is right; our God is tender and merciful. The LORD keeps watch over people with no defense; when I sank down helpless, he rescued me. Come back to your rest, my soul, because the LORD has treated you with kindness. You have pulled me back from death, kept my eyes from weeping and my feet from tripping. I will go about my life in the presence of the LORD, here in the lands of the living. I kept my faith even when I said, I am suffering terribly. In my panic I said, Every human being is false. What return can I make to the LORD for all his kindness to me? I will lift high the cup of salvation and call out the name of the LORD. What I promised the LORD I will carry out, with all his people looking on. The death of his loyal ones weighs heavily in the sight of the LORD. Yes, LORD, I belong to you as your servant, a servant born to your servant woman; you have untied the ropes that bound me. I will bring you a thank offering and call on the LORD by name. What I promised the LORD I will carry out, with all his people looking on, in the courts of the LORD’s house, within you, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
