Psalms 33
Open Word Bible
Sing for joy in the LORD, you righteous; praise suits those who are upright. Thank the LORD on the lyre; play music for him on the ten-stringed harp. Sing him a new song; play your best, with shouts of joy. For the LORD’s word is right, and all his deeds show his faithfulness. He loves what is right and just; the LORD’s loyal love fills the whole earth. The heavens were made at the LORD’s word, and the breath of his mouth made all their array of stars. He heaps up the waters of the sea like a mound and keeps the ocean depths in storerooms. Let the whole earth fear the LORD; let everyone who lives in the world tremble with awe before him. For he only had to speak, and it was; he gave the command, and there it stood. The LORD brings the schemes of nations to nothing; he blocks what the peoples plan. The LORD’s purpose stands firm forever, and what he has planned in his heart lasts through every generation. How blessed is the nation that has the LORD as its God, the people he chose to be his own possession! The LORD looks out from heaven and sees every human being. From the place where he lives he keeps his eye on everyone who lives on the earth, the one who shaped every one of their hearts and who notices everything they do. No king wins the day because his army is large; no warrior escapes because his strength is great. The horse is a deceptive hope for victory; with all its great strength it saves no one. Look, the LORD keeps watch over those who fear him, who wait with hope for his loyal love, to save their lives from death and to keep them living through famine. With all our being we wait for the LORD; he is the one who helps us and shields us. Our hearts are glad in him, because we have put our trust in his holy name. LORD, let your loyal love be over us, in keeping with our hope in you.
