Psalms 9

Open Word Bible

I will thank the LORD with my whole heart; I will tell of all the wonderful things you have done. I will be glad and celebrate because of you; I will sing praises to your name, Most High. When my enemies turn and retreat, they stumble and are destroyed in your presence. For you have taken up my case and given me justice; you sat on your throne as a judge who does what is right. You have rebuked the nations and brought the wicked to ruin; you have wiped their name away for all time. The enemy is finished, left in ruins forever; you have torn up their cities by the roots, and no one remembers them now. But the LORD remains on his throne forever; it is a throne he has set up to judge from. He will judge the world rightly and govern the peoples with fairness. The LORD is a fortress on the heights for those who are crushed, a safe height in times of trouble. Those who know your name will rely on you, because you do not desert anyone who comes looking for you, LORD. Make music to the LORD, whose throne is in Zion! Announce his deeds among the peoples. For the God who calls murderers to account remembers the victims; he has not overlooked the cry of those who suffer. Show me grace, LORD! See how my enemies make me suffer, you who lift me up from the gates of death, so that in the gates of the city of Zion I may tell all the reasons you are praised, and be glad that you saved me. The nations have sunk down into the very pit they dug; the net they hid has snared their own feet. The LORD has made himself known by doing justice: he snares the wicked in the work of their own hands. Higgaion. Selah The wicked will go back down to Sheol, every nation that forgets God. For the needy will not always be forgotten, nor will the hope of the poor be lost forever. Rise up, LORD! Do not let mere humans win. Bring the nations to judgment before you. Fill them with fear, LORD, and let the nations find out they are nothing but human. Selah
