David answers fear with a question rather than an argument. If the Lord is light in the dark, rescue in danger, and the stronghold of your life, then fear still comes — but it has nowhere left to stand.
Notice the possessives: *my* light, *my* salvation, the stronghold of *my* life. This is not a general statement about God’s character but a personal claim staked in the middle of threat. Memorised, it gives you a question to put to your own fear instead of listening to it.
