Marriage, Family & Parenting

Marriage — Genesis 2:24

Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.

Husbands and Wives — Ephesians 5:25

Parenting — Ephesians 6:4

Children — Psalms 127:3

Work — Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,

Money — 1 Timothy 6:10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Wealth — Proverbs 11:28

He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.

Poverty — Proverbs 19:17

He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; he will reward him.

Debt — Proverbs 22:7

The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender.

Giving — 2 Corinthians 9:7

Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Tithing — Malachi 3:10

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house, and test me now in this,” says Yahweh of Armies, “if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough for.

Contentment — Philippians 4:11

Justice, Mercy & the Poor

Justice — Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

The Poor — Proverbs 19:17

He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; he will reward him.

The Orphan — James 1:27

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.

The Widow — Psalms 68:5

A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

The Foreigner — Leviticus 19:34

The stranger who lives as a foreigner with you shall be to you as the native-born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you lived as foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.

Oppression — Isaiah 1:17

Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow.”

Defending the Weak — Psalms 82:3

“Defend the weak, the poor, and the fatherless. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.

Caring for the Needy — Proverbs 14:31

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

Generosity to the Poor — Proverbs 22:9

He who has a generous eye will be blessed; for he shares his food with the poor.

Mercy to Others — Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Loose the Chains — Isaiah 58:6

“Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to release the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

Speak for the Voiceless — Proverbs 31:8-9

Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.”
