The LORD appeared to Abraham by the great trees of Mamre. It was the hottest part of the day, and Abraham was sitting in the doorway of his tent. He raised his eyes and saw three men standing a little way off. At the sight of them he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed down to the ground. “My lord,” he said, “if you are pleased with me, please do not go past your servant without stopping. Let me have some water brought so you can wash your feet; then rest here in the shade of the tree. I will fetch a bite of bread so you can regain your strength before you continue your journey, now that you have come to your servant.” They replied, “Yes, do what you have offered.”
After she and her household had been baptized, she pressed us to accept her offer: “If you are satisfied that I am faithful to the Lord, come into my home and stay.” And she would not take no for an answer.
Most important of all, keep your love for one another strong and unfailing, because love covers a great many sins. Welcome one another into your homes without complaining.
