For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
No one can serve two masters. Either they will hate one and love the other, or they will be loyal to one and look down on the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Do not let love of money rule the way you live; be satisfied with what you have. For God himself has said, “I will not ever let you go, and I will never, never abandon you.”
Honor the LORD with what you own, with the first and best of everything your land produces; then there will be more than enough to fill your barns, and new wine will burst out of your vats.

Tell those who are rich in this present world not to be proud and not to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but in God, who richly gives us everything to enjoy. Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to give generously and to share.
Do not pile up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moths and rust ruin them and thieves dig through walls and steal them. Instead, pile up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where no moth or rust can ruin them and no thief can dig through and steal. Your heart will always be where your treasure is.
