Leviticus 6
Open Word Bible
The LORD spoke to Moses. He said, “Suppose someone sins and betrays the LORD by deceiving a neighbor: denying that they hold goods the neighbor gave them to keep or as security, or taking the neighbor’s goods by robbery, or extorting from them, or keeping lost property they found and denying it, or taking a false oath about any of the wrongs people commit, then, being guilty of such a sin, they must hand back the goods they seized by robbery or extortion, the deposit placed with them, or the lost item they found, or anything at all that was the subject of their false oath. They must pay it back in full and a fifth more besides, and the owner is to receive it on the day of their guilt offering. They must bring to the priest their guilt offering for the LORD: a ram without defect from the flock, of the set value. Before the LORD the priest will make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven for any one of the wrongs that brought them guilt.”
The LORD spoke to Moses. He said, “Give Aaron and his sons this command: ‘These are the instructions for the burnt offering. The burnt offering is to stay on the hearth of the altar all night, until morning, and the altar fire must be kept burning on it. The priest is to put on his linen robe, with linen undergarments next to his body. Then he is to take up the ashes left when the fire has burned up the burnt offering on the altar, and put them beside the altar. Then he is to take off these clothes, put on other clothes, and carry the ashes out of the camp to a ceremonially clean place. The fire on the altar must be kept burning and must not go out. Every morning the priest is to put more wood on it, lay out the burnt offering on it, and burn on it the fat from the peace offerings. Fire is to burn on the altar at all times, never going out. These are the instructions for the grain offering. Aaron’s sons are to present it before the LORD, in front of the altar. The priest is to take up a handful of the fine flour of the grain offering with some of its oil, along with all the frankincense on it, and burn it on the altar as its memorial portion, a soothing aroma to the LORD. What is left of it belongs to Aaron and his sons as food. They must eat it as bread made without yeast, and in a holy place: the courtyard of the tent of meeting is where they must eat it. It must not be baked with yeast. I have given it to them as their share of my food offerings. It is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering. Any male descendant of Aaron may eat it. It is their permanent share of the food offerings to the LORD, for all your generations. Whoever touches these offerings will become holy.’”
The LORD spoke to Moses. He said, “This is the offering that Aaron and his sons are to present to the LORD from the day he is anointed: about 2 quarts of fine flour as a regular grain offering, half in the morning and half in the evening. It is to be made with oil on a griddle. Bring it in well soaked, and present it as a grain offering broken into pieces, a soothing aroma to the LORD. The son who succeeds him as the anointed priest is to prepare it. This is the LORD’s permanent due: it must be burned completely. Every grain offering a priest brings for himself is to be burned whole; it must not be eaten.”
The LORD spoke to Moses. He said, “Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them: ‘These are the instructions for the sin offering. The sin offering is to be slaughtered before the LORD at the same place where the burnt offering is slaughtered. It is most holy. The priest who offers it for sin is to eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place, in the courtyard of the tent of meeting. Whatever touches its meat will become holy. If any of its blood spatters on a garment, you must wash the stained part in a holy place. Any clay pot it is boiled in must be broken. If it is boiled in a bronze pot, the pot must be scrubbed and rinsed with water. Any male of priestly descent may eat it. It is most holy. But no sin offering is to be eaten if any of its blood has been brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the holy place. It must be burned in the fire.
