Leviticus 2

Open Word Bible

If anyone brings a grain offering to the LORD as their offering, it must be fine flour. Oil is to be poured over the flour and frankincense placed on it. They are to bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests. A priest is to scoop out a full handful of the flour and oil, along with all of the frankincense, and turn this memorial portion into smoke on the altar. It is a food offering, a soothing aroma to the LORD. Whatever remains of the grain offering goes to Aaron and his sons, a share that is most holy, taken from the food offerings of the LORD.

When your grain offering is something baked in an oven, it must be of fine flour: cakes made without yeast and mixed with oil, or wafers made without yeast and spread with oil.

If you offer a grain offering cooked on a flat griddle, the fine flour must be mixed with oil and made without yeast. Break it up into crumbs, then pour oil over it. This is a grain offering.

A grain offering that you cook in a deep pan must be made of fine flour and oil. Whichever of these ways your grain offering is made, you are to bring it to the LORD. Once it is handed to the priest, he is to carry it to the altar. From the grain offering the priest is to lift out its memorial portion and turn it into smoke on the altar. It is a food offering, a soothing aroma to the LORD. Whatever remains of the grain offering goes to Aaron and his sons, a share that is most holy, taken from the food offerings of the LORD. No yeast may go into any grain offering you bring to the LORD. Neither yeast nor honey is ever to be turned into smoke as a food offering to the LORD. As an offering of firstfruits you may bring such things to the LORD, but they must not go up on the altar as a soothing aroma. Every grain offering you present must be salted. Never let your grain offering lack the salt of your God’s covenant. Salt is to go with every offering you bring.

When you present a grain offering of firstfruits to the LORD, it is to be the new grain of the season, freshly ripe ears roasted over the fire and crushed. That is how you present the grain offering of your firstfruits. Add oil to it and place frankincense on top. This is a grain offering. The priest is to take some of the crushed grain and some of the oil, along with all of the frankincense, and turn this memorial portion into smoke as a food offering to the LORD.
