About Hebrews
Hebrews is written to believers under pressure and tempted to fall back to older, safer ground. Its argument is cumulative: Christ is superior to the prophets, angels, Moses and the Levitical priesthood, and his single sacrifice achieves what repeated offerings could not. Warnings against drifting are interleaved with the argument. Chapter eleven surveys a long line of people who lived by faith without receiving what was promised.
