But you must ask in faith, without wavering. Anyone who wavers is like a wave out at sea, driven by the wind and thrown this way and that.
At once the boy’s father cried out, “I believe! Help my unbelief!”
Jesus at once put out his hand and took hold of him. “You have so little faith,” he said to him. “Why did you doubt?”
Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for, the proof of realities we do not see.
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Bring your hand and put it into my side. Do not be unbelieving any longer, but believing.”
He did not doubt God’s promise or waver in unbelief. Instead he grew strong in faith and gave glory to God, fully convinced that God had the power to carry out what he had promised.
Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will do more than what was done to this fig tree. Even if you tell this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.
Be merciful to some who are wavering.
Truly I tell you, if anyone tells this mountain, ‘Rise up and be hurled into the sea,’ and does not waver in their heart, but believes that what they say is taking place, it will be done for them.
So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have believed without having seen.”
