Justification, Adoption & Righteousness

In Christ, the guilty are declared righteous and the estranged are welcomed as God’s own children. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. These verses rest in a right standing and a family belonging that grace alone secures.

Justified by Faith — Romans 5:1

Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;

Made Righteous — 2 Corinthians 5:21

For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Adoption — Galatians 4:5

that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children.

Children of God — John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name:

Heirs with Christ — Romans 8:17

and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

Faith Alone — Romans 3:28

We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

No Condemnation — Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Counted Righteous — Romans 4:5

But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

The Righteousness of God — Philippians 3:9

and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Abba, Father — Romans 8:15

For you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Declared Not Guilty — Romans 8:33

Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies.

The Gift of Righteousness — Romans 5:17

For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
