Job 11
Open Word Bible
Then Zophar the Naamathite answered: Should such a flood of words go unanswered? Should a man be proved right by talking? Should your empty talk reduce people to silence? When you mock, should no one shame you? For you say, ‘My teaching is sound, and I am clean in your sight.’ But oh, if only God would speak, and open his lips against you! and show you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom has two sides. Know then that God has overlooked part of your guilt. Can you discover the depths of God? Can you reach the limits of the Almighty? It is higher than the heavens; what can you do? It is deeper than Sheol; what can you know? Its measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea. If he passes through and arrests someone and calls the court together, who can stop him? For he knows who is false; when he sees wickedness, will he not take note of it? A senseless person will become wise when a wild donkey’s colt is born human. If you set your heart right and spread out your hands to him, if there is wrong in your hand, put it far away, and let no injustice live in your tents, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and have no fear. You will forget your trouble; you will remember it like water that has flowed away. Your life will be brighter than noonday; its darkness will become like the morning. You will feel secure, because there is hope; you will look around you and rest in safety. You will lie down with no one to make you afraid, and many will seek your favor. But the eyes of the wicked will fail; there will be no escape for them, and their only hope will be to breathe their last.
