Christ Our Shepherd, Priest & King

Jesus is our Good Shepherd who lays down his life, our great High Priest who ever lives to intercede, and the King of kings seated at God’s right hand. He leads us, prays for us, and reigns over all. These verses rest in his care, his mediation, and his rule.

The Good Shepherd — John 10:11

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

Our High Priest — Hebrews 4:14

Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.

King of Kings — Revelation 19:16

He has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

The Mediator — 1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Lordship of Christ — Philippians 2:9-11

Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Name of Jesus — Acts 4:12

There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

Our Advocate — 1 John 2:1

My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.

The Great Shepherd — Hebrews 13:20

Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus,

Seated at God's Right Hand — Ephesians 1:20

which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,

He Ever Lives to Intercede — Hebrews 7:25

Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

The Chief Cornerstone — Ephesians 2:20

being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;

The Head of the Church — Colossians 1:18

He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
