God has put all things under the feet of Christ, and has given him to the church to be head over all things. The church is his body. It is his fullness, filled by him who fills everything in every place and every way.

Instead, as we speak the truth in love, we must grow in every respect into him, the head, Christ.

Such a person has lost hold of the head, Christ. From him the whole body, supplied and held together by its joints and ligaments, grows with the growth God gives.

For the husband is head of the wife, just as Christ is head of the church; and he is the Savior of that body.

In the same way, many as we are, we are one body in Christ, and each of us is a part that belongs to all the others.

You are Christ’s body, and each of you individually is one of its parts.
