The Holy Spirit

The Spirit is God himself dwelling with and within his people — our Helper, our Counselor, the seal of our redemption. He pours God’s love into our hearts, grows his fruit in our lives, and gives gifts for the good of the church. These verses help you welcome and walk in step with the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit

The Spirit's Person — John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

Filled with the Spirit — Ephesians 5:18

Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

Walking in the Spirit — Galatians 5:25

If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.

The Helper — John 14:16

I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,—

The Spirit's Conviction — John 16:8

When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment;

Led by the Spirit — Romans 8:14

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God.

The Spirit of Truth — John 16:13

However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you things that are coming.

The Spirit Within Us — 1 Corinthians 3:16

Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you?

The Spirit Helps Our Weakness — Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

Living Water — John 7:38

He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”

The Seal of the Spirit — Ephesians 1:13

in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

Power from on High — Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

The Fruit & Gifts of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit — Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Gifts of the Spirit — 1 Corinthians 12:7

But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all.

Self-Control — Galatians 5:23

gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Spiritual Power — 2 Timothy 1:7

For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

Serving with Gifts — 1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

The Anointing — 1 John 2:27

As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.

Many Gifts, One Spirit — 1 Corinthians 12:4

Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.

Love the Greatest Gift — 1 Corinthians 13:13

But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

Earnestly Desire Gifts — 1 Corinthians 14:1

Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.

Stir Up the Gift — 2 Timothy 1:6

For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Quench Not the Spirit — 1 Thessalonians 5:19

Don’t quench the Spirit.

For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.
