The Holy Spirit is God present with his people — Comforter, Counselor, and the guarantee of our inheritance. He convicts, teaches, empowers, and pours God’s love into our hearts. These verses help you know and walk with the Spirit.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father is going to send in my name, is the one who will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you.
Do not get drunk on wine, for that is reckless, wasteful living. Instead, let the Spirit fill you.
Since our life comes from the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit’s lead in each step we take.
I will ask the Father, and in answer he will give you another Advocate, who will be with you forever.
When he comes, he will show the world to be in the wrong about sin, about righteousness and about judgment:
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you in all the truth. What he says will not come from himself; he will speak what he hears, and he will make known to you what is yet to come.
Do you not know that together you are God’s temple, and that God’s Spirit lives among you?
In the same way, the Spirit also lends a hand in our weakness. What we should pray for, and how, we do not know. But the Spirit himself pleads on our behalf, with groans that no words carry.
As for the one who believes in me, it is just as the Scripture said: ‘Rivers of living water will pour out from deep within him.’”
And you also are in him. You heard the message of truth, the gospel that brings you salvation, and you believed; and in him you were sealed with the Holy Spirit God had promised.
But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive power, and you will bear witness to me in Jerusalem, through all Judea and Samaria, and out to the farthest end of the earth.”
