Is anyone among you ill? That person should call for the elders of the church, and they should pray over the sick person and anoint the sick person with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer made in faith will save the one who is ill, and the Lord will raise them up. And if they have committed sins, they will be forgiven.
The LORD will hold them up on their sickbed; when they are ill, you turn their whole bed of sickness to health.
That evening people brought him many who were controlled by demons. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed everyone who was sick. This was so that the word spoken through the prophet Isaiah would be fulfilled: “He took our weaknesses and carried our diseases.”
Yet it was our sicknesses that he bore, our pains that he shouldered, while we took him for a man under a plague, beaten down by God and brought low.
Bless the LORD, my soul, and never forget all that he has done for you, who pardons all your wrongdoing, who cures every illness you have,
Lord, you see everything I long for; not one of my sighs escapes you.
Jesus heard it and told them, “People who are well do not need a doctor; sick people do. I came to call sinners, not the righteous.”
