Revelation 4
Open Word Bible
After this I looked, and there in heaven was a door standing open. The voice I had heard at first, the one like a trumpet that spoke with me, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen.” After this, at once I came to be in the Spirit, and I saw a throne standing in heaven, with someone seated on it. The one seated there looked like jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that looked like emerald. Around the throne stood twenty-four other thrones, and on them sat twenty-four elders, dressed in white, with gold crowns on their heads. Lightning flashes out from the throne, with sounds and thunder. Before the throne seven torches of fire are burning, which are the seven spirits of God, and before it lies what looks like a sea of glass, like crystal. And at the throne’s center and all around it were four living beings, full of eyes front and back. The first creature looked like a lion; the second looked like an ox; the third had a face like a human face; and the fourth looked like an eagle in flight. The four living creatures have six wings apiece and are full of eyes around and within. Without rest, day and night, they say: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God, the Almighty, the one who was and who is and who is coming.” Each time the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him and worship the one who lives forever and ever. They throw down their crowns in front of the throne, saying: “Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, because you created all things: because you willed it, they existed and were created.”
