Ezekiel 41

Open Word Bible

Then he brought me into the main hall of the temple and measured the jambs. They were about 10 1/2 feet thick on each side, the width of the tent. The entrance was about 17 1/2 feet wide, and the walls on either side of it were about 8 3/4 feet wide. He measured the main hall: it was about 70 feet long and about 35 feet wide. Then he went into the inner room and measured the jambs of its entrance: they were about 3 1/2 feet thick. The entrance was about 10 1/2 feet wide, and its side walls were about 12 1/4 feet wide. He measured the room beyond the main hall: it was about 35 feet long and about 35 feet wide. He said to me, “This is the most holy place.” Then he measured the wall of the temple: it was about 10 1/2 feet thick. The side rooms all around the temple were each about 7 feet wide. The side rooms were in three stories, one above another, thirty on each story. The wall of the temple had ledges all around to hold up the side rooms, so that their beams did not have to be set into the wall of the temple itself. The side rooms became wider at each story going up, because the structure surrounding the temple went up in stages all around it. So the building became wider toward the top, and one went up from the lowest story to the top story through the middle one. I saw that the temple had a raised platform all around it. The foundations of the side rooms were a full reed, about 10 1/2 feet, to the joint. The outer wall of the side rooms was about 8 3/4 feet thick. There was an open space between the side rooms of the temple and the rooms; it was about 35 feet wide all around the temple. The side rooms had doors opening onto the open space, one door on the north side and one on the south. The open space was about 8 3/4 feet wide all around. The building facing the separate area on the west side was about 122 1/2 feet wide. Its wall was about 8 3/4 feet thick all around, and it was about 157 1/2 feet long. Then he measured the temple: it was about 175 feet long. The separate area with the building and its walls was also about 175 feet long. The width of the temple’s front, together with the separate area, on the east side was about 175 feet. He measured the length of the building facing the separate area at the back of the temple, with its galleries on each side: it was about 175 feet. The main hall, the inner room and the porch facing the court the thresholds, the recessed windows, and the galleries around all three of them were paneled with wood all around, from the floor up to the windows. The windows were covered, even the space above the entrance into the inner room and outside it. On all the walls all around, both inside and outside, there were measured panels, carved with cherubim and palm trees, with a palm tree between each pair of cherubim. Each cherub had two faces: a human face turned toward the palm tree on one side, and a lion’s face turned toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the whole temple. From the floor to above the entrance, cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the main hall. The doorframes of the main hall were square, and the front of the most holy place looked the same. There was an altar of wood about 5 1/4 feet high and about 3 1/2 feet long. Its corners, its length and its sides were wooden. He said to me, “This is the table that stands before the LORD.” The main hall and the most holy place each had a double door. Each door had two leaves that swung on hinges, two leaves for each door. On the doors of the main hall were carved cherubim and palm trees like those on the walls, and there was a wooden canopy over the front of the porch outside. There were recessed windows and palm trees on both sides of the porch, and on the side rooms of the temple and the canopies.
