Ezekiel 35

Open Word Bible

The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, turn to face Mount Seir and prophesy against it. Say to it, The Lord GOD says this: I am against you, Mount Seir. I will raise my hand against you and turn you into a desolate waste. I will lay your towns in ruins, and you will be laid waste. Then you will know that I am the LORD. Because you kept up an age-old hostility and handed the Israelites over to the sword at the time of their disaster, the time when their punishment reached its end, therefore, as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will hand you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you. I will make Mount Seir a desolate ruin and cut off from it everyone who comes and goes. I will fill its mountains with the dead. Those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and all your ravines. I will make you desolate forever, and your towns will not be lived in again. Then you will know that I am the LORD. Because you said, “Both nations and both countries will be mine; we will take them over,” even though the LORD was there, therefore, as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will treat you with the same anger and envy that you showed in your hatred of them, and when I judge you, I will make myself known among them. Then you will know that I am the LORD. I have heard all the insults you spoke against the mountains of Israel when you said, “They lie desolate; they have been handed to us to devour.” You boasted against me with your mouths and piled up words against me. I heard it all.

The Lord GOD says this: While the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate. Just as you rejoiced when the house of Israel’s inheritance became desolate, I will do the same to you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, you and all Edom, every part of it. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
