Bible Verses About Prayer & the Word

Do not worry about anything. Instead, in everything, bring your requests to God through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.

First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanks be offered for everyone:

Jesus told them a parable about their need to pray at all times and not lose heart.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want, and it will be done for you.

When the righteous cry out, the LORD listens and frees them from every trouble they face.

How long, LORD? Will you go on forgetting me for good? How long will you turn your face away from me?

So let us, with confidence, approach the throne of grace, to receive mercy and to find grace that brings help just when we need it.

Keep asking, and you will receive. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you.

Never stop praying.

The prayer made in faith will save the one who is ill, and the Lord will raise them up. And if they have committed sins, they will be forgiven.

But you, dear friends, keep building yourselves up on your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.

So make it your practice to confess your sins to each other and to pray for each other, so that you may be healed. When a righteous person prays, that prayer is at work, and it can do a great deal.

But when you pray, go into an inner room, shut the door, and pray to your Father who is there in secret. Your Father sees what is hidden, and he will repay you.

And again, truly I tell you: if two of you here on earth are of one mind about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.

God is spirit, and anyone who worships him has to do it in spirit and truth.”

Let every creature that breathes praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!

Come through his gates giving thanks, into his courtyards with praise; thank him and bless his name.

Come, let us bow down to the ground and bend low; let us kneel in front of the LORD, the one who made us.

Sing a new song to the LORD! All the earth, sing to the LORD!

So, as people who are being given a kingdom that nothing can shake, let us hold on to gratitude, and through it serve God in a way that pleases him, with reverence and awe.

Let the word of Christ make its home among you richly, in all wisdom. Teach and warn one another with psalms, hymns and Spirit-given songs, and sing to God, thankful from the heart.

But an hour is coming, and in fact it has already begun, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking people like these to worship him.

A psalm for giving thanks. Raise a glad shout to the LORD, all the earth!

Raise your hands toward the sanctuary, and bless the LORD!

So through him let us offer God a sacrifice of praise at all times: the fruit of lips that give thanks to his name.

Praise the LORD! Let the heavens praise the LORD; let the heights above give him praise!

All Scripture is breathed out by God and is useful for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting and for training in righteousness,

Deep in my heart I have kept your word safe, so that I will not sin against you.

For the word of God is alive and at work, and it has a keener edge than any two-edged sword. It reaches right in, cutting through soul and spirit, through joints and marrow, and it weighs the thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Keep this book of the law always on your lips, and reflect on it by day and by night, so that you take care to do all that is written in it. Then you will bring your ways to a good end, and then you will act wisely and succeed.

Heaven and earth will pass away; my words never will.

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for the road I travel.

This is what the parable means: the seed is the word of God.

Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, you really are my disciples.

If any of you is short of wisdom, ask God, who gives to everyone with an open hand and without scolding, and it will be given to you.

Solid food, on the other hand, belongs to the mature, whose faculties have been trained by practice to tell good from evil.

How blessed is the person who has found wisdom, the one who has come by understanding,

Without wise direction a nation falls, but with many advisers comes victory.

People plot their course in their minds, but it is the LORD who guides their steps.

I will give you insight and show you the road you are to take; I will advise you and keep my eye on you.

Do not let this present age press you into its mold, but be changed through and through as your mind is made new. Then you will be able to test and recognize the will of God: what is good and pleasing and perfect.

Knowledge begins with the fear of the LORD, but fools treat wisdom and discipline with contempt.

But the wisdom from above is, first of all, pure. It also makes for peace; it is gentle and willing to yield; it is full of mercy and of good fruits; it plays no favorites, and it is free of pretense.

This is where wisdom starts: get wisdom. Spend all you have, if you must, to get understanding.

Trust the LORD with your whole heart, and do not rely on your own insight.

Test everything; keep hold of what is good;

Live wisely with those outside the church, making the most of every opportunity.
