As for the seed in the good soil, these are people with a good and upright heart. They hear the word, hold on to it, and through endurance bear fruit.

But others are like seed sown in good soil. These hear the word, welcome it, and bear a crop, thirty, sixty, or a hundred times what was sown.”

You have been born anew, not from a seed that dies but from one that cannot die, through the word of God, which is alive and lasts.

So take off all that is filthy and the wickedness that overflows, and with a gentle spirit welcome the word rooted in you, which has the power to save your souls.

Just as rain and snow fall from the heavens and do not go back up until they have soaked the ground and made it bud and grow, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, so it is with the word that leaves my mouth: it will not come back to me with nothing done, but it will do what I want and succeed in the errand I sent it on.
