Isaiah 56
Open Word Bible
The LORD says this: Guard justice and practice righteousness, for my salvation is near and ready to come, and my righteousness is about to be made known. How blessed is the mortal who does this, the human being who clings to it, who guards the Sabbath and does not make it common, and who will not lift a hand to do any evil.
The foreigner who has attached himself to the LORD must not say, “The LORD is sure to set me apart from his people.” The eunuch must not say, “See, I am nothing but a dried-up tree.”
For the LORD says this to the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what gives me pleasure, and who hold firmly to my covenant: within my house and inside my walls I will set up for them a monument and a name worth more than sons and daughters. I will give each of them a name that lasts forever, one that will never be wiped out.
As for the foreigners who attach themselves to the LORD, who serve him, who love the name of the LORD and become his servants, everyone who guards the Sabbath and does not make it common and who clings to my covenant, I will lead them to my holy mountain and make them glad in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will find favor on my altar, for my house will be named a house of prayer for all peoples. So declares the Lord GOD, who collects the scattered people of Israel: I will yet bring more to join them, beyond the ones already brought together. Every creature that roams the fields, every beast in the forest, come here and devour!
The nation’s lookouts are blind, every one; none of them understands. All of them are voiceless dogs that cannot give a bark; they sprawl out and dream, and dozing is what they love. The dogs are ravenous; they never know when they have had enough. And these are the shepherds! They have no discernment. They have all gone off their own way, every one of them grabbing what he can get. “Come on,” they call, “I will bring the wine; let us soak ourselves in beer! Tomorrow will be like today, a grand day, with plenty and to spare.”
