Genesis 10
Open Word Bible
This is the account of the families of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood. The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah. The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim and the Dodanim. From these the peoples of the coasts and islands spread out into their own lands, each with its own language, by their clans and nations. The sons of Ham were Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan. The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan. Cush was the father of Nimrod, who became the first great warrior on the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why people say, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.” His kingdom began with Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. Egypt was the ancestor of the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehabites, the Naphtuhites, the Pathrusites, the Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and the Caphtorites.
Canaan was the father of Sidon, his firstborn, and of Heth, and of the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites and the Hamathites. Later the clans of the Canaanites spread out, and the border of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. These are the descendants of Ham, by their clans and languages, in their lands and nations.
Sons were also born to Shem, the elder brother of Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud and Aram. The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether and Mash. Arpachshad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber. Two sons were born to Eber. One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided. His brother was named Joktan. Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. These are the descendants of Shem, by their clans and languages, in their lands and nations. These are the clans of Noah’s sons, by their family lines, in their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
