Exodus 27

Open Word Bible

Make the altar out of acacia wood. It is to be square, about 7 1/2 feet on each side and about 4 1/2 feet high. Shape horns on its four corners, forming part of the altar itself, and overlay it all with bronze. Make its pots for clearing away the fat-soaked ashes, along with its shovels, basins, forks and firepans. All of its utensils are to be made of bronze. Make for it a grating of bronze, worked as a mesh, and attach four bronze rings to the mesh at its four corners. Place the grating beneath the ledge of the altar, down below, so that the mesh reaches to the middle of the altar. The altar is also to have poles: make them of acacia wood and overlay them with bronze. The poles are to be slid through the rings, so that they run along both sides of the altar whenever it is carried. The altar is to be a hollow box built of planks. Let them make it according to what you were shown on the mountain.

You are also to make the courtyard of the tabernacle. On the south side the courtyard is to have hangings of fine twisted linen, about 150 feet long on that one side. Its twenty pillars are to stand in twenty bronze bases, and the hooks and bands on the pillars are to be silver. The north side is to be the same: hangings about 150 feet long, with twenty pillars in twenty bronze bases, and silver hooks and bands on the pillars. Across the width of the courtyard, on the west side, there are to be hangings about 75 feet long, with ten pillars and ten bases. The width of the courtyard on the east side, toward the sunrise, is also to be about 75 feet. On one side of the entrance there are to be hangings about 22 1/2 feet long, with three pillars and three bases. On the other side there are to be hangings about 22 1/2 feet long, with three pillars and three bases. The gateway of the courtyard is to have a screen about 30 feet wide, of blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine twisted linen, worked by an embroiderer, and hung on four pillars set in four bases. Every pillar around the courtyard is to be fitted with silver bands; their hooks are to be silver and their bases bronze. In all, the courtyard measures about 150 feet in length and about 75 feet across at each end. Its walls of fine twisted linen stand about 7 1/2 feet high, and the bases are bronze. All the tools used for every task in the tabernacle, and all its tent pegs and those of the courtyard, are to be made of bronze.

You are to give the Israelites this command: they must bring you pure beaten olive oil for the light, to make a lamp burn continually. Aaron and his sons are to tend it in the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that screens the testimony, from evening to morning before the LORD. This is a statute for all time for the Israelites, generation after generation.
