Exodus 25

Open Word Bible

The LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the Israelites and have them set aside a contribution for me. You are to receive my contribution from everyone whose heart moves them to give. This is the contribution you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze, blue, purple and scarlet yarn, fine linen, goats’ hair, rams’ skins dyed red, fine leather, acacia wood, oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, and onyx stones and other stones to be set in the ephod and the breastpiece. They are to make me a sanctuary, so that I may dwell among them. You are to make it in keeping with everything I show you, following the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings.

They are to make an ark of acacia wood, about 3 3/4 feet long, about 2 1/4 feet wide and about 2 1/4 feet high. Overlay it with pure gold on the inside and the outside, and put a gold molding around it on every side. Cast four rings of gold for it and fix them at its four feet, so that each side has two rings. You are also to make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. Slide the poles through the rings on the sides of the ark, so that the ark can be carried by them. The poles are to be kept in the rings of the ark and never pulled out. Inside the ark you are to place the testimony that I will give you. Make a mercy seat of pure gold, about 3 3/4 feet long and about 2 1/4 feet wide. Make two cherubim of gold. Make them of hammered work, at the two ends of the mercy seat. Form one cherub at this end and another at that end. The cherubim are to be shaped out of the mercy seat itself, at its two ends. The cherubim are to spread their wings out above, sheltering the mercy seat with their wings. They are to face one another, with their faces turned toward the mercy seat. The mercy seat is to go on top of the ark, and inside the ark you are to put the testimony I will give you. I will meet with you there. I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from the space between the two cherubim on the ark of the testimony, and give you every command meant for the Israelites.

Make a table of acacia wood, about 3 feet long, about 1 1/2 feet wide and about 2 1/4 feet high. Overlay it with pure gold, and give it a gold molding all the way around. Give it a frame about 3 inches wide on every side, with a gold molding all around the frame. Make it four rings of gold and set them at the four corners, one by each of its four legs. Place the rings near the frame; they will hold the poles by which the table is carried. Make the poles from acacia wood and overlay them with gold. The table will be carried with them. Make its dishes, its pans, its jars and its bowls, which are used for pouring out drink offerings; make them of pure gold. On the table you are to set the bread of the Presence, to lie before me continually.

Make a lampstand of pure gold, hammered out. Its base and its shaft, its cups, its buds and its blossoms are to form one piece with it. Six branches are to come out from the sides of the lampstand: from one side three of its branches, and from the other side three. One branch is to have three cups shaped like almond blossoms, with a bud and a blossom, and the next branch three cups shaped like almond blossoms, with a bud and a blossom. It is to be the same for all six branches that come out of the lampstand. On the lampstand itself there are to be four cups shaped like almond blossoms, with its buds and blossoms. There is to be a bud under each pair of branches that come out of it: one bud beneath each of the three pairs, for the six branches that come out of the lampstand. Their buds and their branches are to be part of it, the whole of it a single hammered piece of pure gold. Make seven lamps for it. The lamps are to be mounted so that their light falls on the space before the lampstand. Its tongs and its fire pans are to be of pure gold. The lampstand and all these utensils are to be made from about 75 pounds of pure gold. Take care to make them by the pattern you are being shown on the mountain.
