What Romans 5:1 means
The peace here is not a feeling but a change of standing. Paul has spent four chapters establishing that no one is put right with God by law-keeping; this verse states the result — the hostility is over and the war has ended.
‘We have’ is present and settled. It does not fluctuate with how the day has gone or how well you have done. For anyone whose sense of acceptance rises and falls, this verse relocates it to something already accomplished.
