What 1 Peter 2:9 means
Peter piles up titles that once belonged to Israel and applies them to a scattered, mixed group of believers with little social standing. The effect is to tell people the surrounding culture dismissed exactly who they now are.
Each title carries a role rather than just an honour: chosen, priestly, holy, God’s own possession. And the stated purpose is proclamation — that you may declare the excellencies of him who called you. Identity is given so it can be spoken about.
