Repentance & Forgiveness

God meets repentant hearts with mercy, removing our sins as far as the east is from the west. To confess and turn to him is to be cleansed and restored. These verses open the way back to the Father, again and again.

Repentance — Acts 3:19

“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord,

Forgiveness of Sins — 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confession — Psalms 32:5

I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Turning to God — Joel 2:13

Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.

Cleansed — Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, and let us reason together,” says Yahweh: “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

A Clean Heart — Psalms 51:10

Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

Godly Sorrow — 2 Corinthians 7:10

For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death.

As Far as the East — Psalms 103:12

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Sins Remembered No More — Hebrews 8:12

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.”

Return to the Lord — Hosea 6:1

“Come, and let us return to Yahweh; for he has torn us to pieces, and he will heal us; he has injured us, and he will bind up our wounds.

The Prodigal's Return — Luke 15:18-20

I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight. I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’ “He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Restore the Joy — Psalms 51:12

Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
