Identity in Christ

If anyone is in Christ, the old has gone and the new has come — chosen, beloved, a child of God. You are God’s workmanship, a citizen of heaven, more than a conqueror. These verses tell you who you truly are.

Child of God — 1 John 3:1

See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him.

Chosen — Ephesians 1:4

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without defect before him in love;

Beloved — Colossians 3:12

Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;

More Than Conquerors — Romans 8:37

No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Set Free — John 8:36

If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

Citizens of Heaven — Philippians 3:20

For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

Light of the World — Matthew 5:14

You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.

Salt of the Earth — Matthew 5:13

“You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

A Royal Priesthood — 1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

God's Workmanship — Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

Ambassadors for Christ — 2 Corinthians 5:20

We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

Accepted in the Beloved — Ephesians 1:6

to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved,

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made — Psalms 139:14

I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.
