Bible Verses About God the Father
The God of the Bible is a Father — the source of every good gift and the One whose love sent his Son for us. He is faithful, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. These verses invite you to rest in the Father’s heart toward you.
This is where love is found: not in our having loved God, but in his loving us and sending his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
It is by the LORD’s loyal love that we have not been wiped out, for his mercies have not failed. They are new each morning; how great is your faithfulness!
But God is rich in mercy. Because of the great love he had for us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, he made us alive together with Christ. You have been saved by grace.
For it is by this grace that you have been saved, through faith. None of this comes from you; it is God’s gift. It is not the result of what anyone has done, so there is no room for anyone to boast.
Taste and see how good the LORD is! How blessed is the person who makes him their refuge!
Just as a father feels for his children, the LORD feels tender love for all who fear him.
So he set off and went back to his father. His father caught sight of him while he was still far away, and his heart went out to him. He ran to meet him, embraced him and kissed him warmly.
The Lord is not delaying the promise, as some people think of delay. Rather, he is being patient with you. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all people to turn back in repentance.
Or do you make light of how rich he is in kindness, tolerance and patience? Do you not see that God is kind to you in order to bring you to repentance?
Look at the birds in the sky. They do not plant or harvest or store food in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth far more than they are?
And my God will fill every need you have, in keeping with his glorious wealth in Christ Jesus.
The LORD is close to everyone who calls to him, to all who call to him sincerely.
From far away the LORD appeared to me: I have loved you with an everlasting love, so I have kept on showing you loyal love.
