About Malachi
Malachi is built as a series of disputes: God makes a statement, the people answer back, and he responds. The complaints are about blemished offerings, faithless divorce, and withheld tithes — the religion of people going through the motions. It closes the Old Testament looking forward, promising a messenger who will prepare the way and the return of Elijah before the day of the Lord.
