The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon, clan by clan. Their inheritance lay inside the inheritance of the tribe of Judah. Their inheritance included Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah, Hazar-shual, Balah, Ezem, Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah, Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susah, Beth-lebaoth and Sharuhen: thirteen towns and their villages, and also Ain, Rimmon, Ether and Ashan: four towns and their villages, together with all the villages around these towns, out to Baalath-beer, Ramah of the Negev. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon, clan by clan. The inheritance of the tribe of Simeon came out of the share of the tribe of Judah, because Judah’s share was too large for them. So the tribe of Simeon received its inheritance inside Judah’s.
The third lot came up for the tribe of Zebulun, clan by clan. The border of their inheritance reached as far as Sarid. Their border goes up westward to Maralah, reaches Dabbesheth, and reaches the wadi that faces Jokneam. From Sarid it turns east, toward the sunrise, to the border of Chisloth-tabor, goes on to Daberath, and goes up to Japhia. From there it goes on east, toward the sunrise, to Gath-hepher and Eth-kazin, and goes out to Rimmon, where it bends toward Neah. On the north the border goes around to Hannathon and ends at the valley of Iphtah-el. Also in it were Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah and Bethlehem: twelve towns and their villages. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Zebulun, clan by clan: these towns and their villages.
The fourth lot came out for the tribe of Issachar, clan by clan. Their territory reached to Jezreel and included Chesulloth, Shunem, Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath, Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez, Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah and Beth-pazzez. The border reaches Tabor, Shahazumah and Beth-shemesh, and it ends at the Jordan: sixteen towns and their villages. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Issachar, clan by clan: the towns and their villages.
The fifth lot came out for the tribe of Asher, clan by clan. Their territory included Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph, Allammelech, Amad and Mishal. On the west it reaches Carmel and Shihor-libnath. Then it turns east toward the sunrise to Beth-dagon, reaches Zebulun and the valley of Iphtah-el to the north, Beth-emek and Neiel, and goes on to Cabul on the north, Ebron, Rehob, Hammon and Kanah, as far as great Sidon. Then the border turns to Ramah and on to the fortified city of Tyre. It turns to Hosah and ends at the sea, in the district of Achzib, and also Ummah, Aphek and Rehob: twenty-two towns and their villages. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Asher, clan by clan: these towns and their villages.
The sixth lot came out for the tribe of Naphtali, clan by clan. Their border runs from Heleph, from the great tree at Zaanannim, by Adami-nekeb and Jabneel as far as Lakkum, and it ends at the Jordan. Then the border turns west to Aznoth-tabor and goes on from there to Hukkok. It reaches Zebulun on the south and Asher on the west, and on the east it reaches Judah at the Jordan. The fortified towns were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth, Adamah, Ramah, Hazor, Kedesh, Edrei, En-hazor, Iron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath and Beth-shemesh: nineteen towns and their villages. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Naphtali, clan by clan: the towns and their villages.
The seventh lot came out for the tribe of Dan, clan by clan. The territory of their inheritance included Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh, Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah, Elon, Timnah, Ekron, Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, Jehud, Bene-berak, Gath-rimmon, Me-jarkon and Rakkon, with the territory facing Joppa. But the territory of the Danites was lost to them, so the Danites went up and fought against Leshem. They captured it, put it to the sword, took possession of it, and settled there. They renamed Leshem Dan, after their ancestor Dan. This was the inheritance of the tribe of Dan, clan by clan: these towns and their villages.
When they had finished dividing up the land as inheritances by its borders, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them. At the command of the LORD they gave him the town he asked for, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. He built up the town and settled there. Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the family heads of the tribes of the Israelites handed out these inheritances by lot at Shiloh, before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting. So they finished dividing the land.
