Jonah 2
Open Word Bible
Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from inside the fish. He said: “When I was in trouble I cried out to the LORD, and he gave me an answer; from deep in Sheol I called for help, and you heard my voice. You threw me into the depths, into the heart of the seas, and the current swirled around me; all your breaking waves and rollers have gone over my head. I said, ‘I have been driven away from your sight; still, I will look again toward your holy temple.’ The waters closed over me up to my throat; the deep was all around me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. I went down to the roots of the mountains; the earth’s bars closed behind me forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, LORD my God. As my life was ebbing away, I remembered the LORD, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. Those who devote themselves to useless idols abandon their loyal love. But I will sacrifice to you with a song of thanksgiving; what I have vowed I will make good. It is the LORD who saves.”
Then the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out onto dry land.
