What Romans 10:9 means
Paul gives two elements that belong together: something said and something believed. Confession without belief is empty words; belief that never surfaces in speech is not the confession he describes.
Both centre on the resurrection and on Jesus’ lordship — not merely admiring him, but acknowledging his authority. It is among the most commonly quoted verses when explaining how a person becomes a Christian, because it is so specific.
