What Micah 6:8 means
The surrounding verses imagine someone escalating their offerings — thousands of rams, rivers of oil — trying to find the price of God’s favour. Micah cuts the bidding off: you have already been told, and it was never about volume.
The three phrases hold together deliberately. Justice without mercy turns harsh, mercy without justice turns sentimental, and both go wrong without humility before God. It is one of the most compressed summaries of a faithful life in Scripture.
