Ruth

Old Testament · 4 chapters

A Moabite widow’s loyalty, and how she became part of David’s family line.

About Ruth

Ruth is a short, quiet story set during the time of the judges. Naomi loses her husband and sons in Moab; her daughter-in-law Ruth refuses to leave her and returns with her to Bethlehem. There Ruth gleans in Boaz’s field, and through his kindness as a redeeming kinsman the family line is preserved — a line that leads to David and, in Matthew’s genealogy, to Jesus.
