About Obadiah
Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament, a single oracle against Edom — a neighbouring people descended from Esau. Its charge is not that Edom attacked but that it stood aloof and gloated on the day of Jerusalem’s disaster, and even joined in the looting. The book insists that such indifference is itself guilt, and that the day of the Lord comes for all nations.
