About Amos
Amos was a herdsman and tender of fig trees, not a professional prophet, and he speaks to a wealthy, comfortable Israel. His indictment is concrete: courts bought, the poor sold for silver, worship offered while injustice continues. God rejects the festivals of people who trample the needy, and asks instead for justice rolling down like waters. The visions near the end make the warning unmistakable.
