1 Timothy 2

Open Word Bible

First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanks be offered for everyone: for kings and for all who hold high office, so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives, fully devoted to God and worthy of respect. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself as a ransom for all. This was the testimony given at the right time. For this purpose I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth; I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

So I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, free from anger and quarreling. In the same way, I want women to dress in a fitting way, with modesty and good sense, and not to make braided hair, gold, pearls or costly clothes their adornment, but good works, as is right for women who claim to honor God. A woman should learn quietly and with full submission. I do not allow a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, and then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and fell into sin. Yet she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love and holiness, with self-control.
